It's rematch time! In a rematch of a true classic Super Bowl played 4 years ago, the New York Giants are once again facing the New England Patriots for the NFL's ultimate prize. The two teams meet in Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis.
Unlike the first meeting in 2008, the Giants are not huge underdogs. In '08, the Patriots came into the game at 18-0 and were looking for perfection but the Giants rallied late to upset the Pats and win 17-14.
The Patriots are slight favorites this time around, with the point spread sitting around 3 points or so. Our pick? Once again, we like Eli Manning and the G-Men to defeat the Patriots. We expect a close game again, with a lot more points being scored this time around. Like 2008, the Giants vicious pass rush could be the difference. They need to sack and/or pressure Tom Brady enough times to slow down the New England offense. Plus, the Pats defense isn't stout enough to keep the Giants out of the end zone. The Pats secondary has been a problem all year long, ranking as one of the worst units in the league. The Pats aren't able to match up with Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham.
That being said, Tom Brady and Bill Belichik are no spring chickens. They have proven over the years to be too smart and too good to ever be considered true underdogs in any matchup. Let's hope for another great Super Bowl this year!
